The difference between Short Term Loans and Short Term Loan, in search term world!
As a company that does not pay large sums to advertise our services and really only relies on people finding us, we need to make sure we are visible on Google UK, the primary search engine in the UK. We need people to say, “Hey I’m looking for a Short Term Loan, so I will go on Google and find one”. We then need the prospective customer to search on a term that Google deems our site to be relevant for.
So, the customer may search on Payday Loans and a list of payday loan companies will pop up. That is great for the customer, but not great for a little company like us. We cannot afford to pay money to be be listed under payday loans, it would cost a lot of money. An interesting fact is that in the UK over 201,000 people search for the term Payday Loans. We see ourselves as Short Term Loans more than Payday Loans, so we lend to get listed under this term.
What is interesting about the term Short Term Loans is that 33,000 people search for Short Term Loans, whereas for Short Term Loan only 5,400 people search for that term.
A question I wish I knew the answer for is, why do people search for the plural rather than the singular? After all, someone searching is actually not looking for Loans, but a Loan. They don’t want multiple loans they just want one loan, so whey do they search for multiple loans? It is the same for Payday Loans and Payday Loan. We already know that 201,000 people search for Payday Loans, but only 22,000 people search for Payday Loan. I do believe that this is particularly prevalent for people searching for loans, as I cant imagine someone searching for a supplier of lemonade will search for “lemonades”.
Funny old world.
